Rent-a-Bike System Opened in Skopje

Mayor of the City of Skopje Koce Trajanovski officially opened the new rent-a-bike system in Skopje. There will be three main rent-a-bike points: "Makedonija" Square, Treska Parking Lot and TC Biser in the Municipality of Aerodrom. The price for renting is 10 MKD per hour and the citizens will be able to rent and return the bicycle at any of the three points. The Second ORIO Call for Proposals for 2010 Opened
On Monday 26 July 2010 the second ORIO Call for proposals for 2010 has been opened. This Call will close on Monday 11 October 2010 at 17.00 hrs CET. ORIO (Facility for Infrastructure Development) is a grant facility funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to encourage public private partnerships in infrastructure development in developing countries. Closing Ceremony of the Gender Responsive Budgeting Project

On 29 June 2010, the closing ceremony for the "Gender Responsive Budgeting on Local Level" project took place. The project was implemented in the period January 2009 - May 2010 in two pilot municipalities – Tetovo and Bitola. It was the first attempt to introduce the concepts and tools of gender responsive budgeting to the local stakeholders and to examine the effects of specific programs and budgets on women and men. Training for commercial attachés organised by makInvest and CBI
From the 28th of June until the 2nd of July the Dutch Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) and the Macedonian investment agency, MakInvest, will organize a week of trainings for commercial attachés. The training is part of a global effort of CBI to assist commercial attachés of developing countries to better promote trade and investment interest of their country abroad. The training will provide very practical advice to the commercial attachés on: EU trade structures and business practices; marketing and trade promotion techniques; market research; matching needs exporters and EU market access requirements; and role of commercial attachés. "Tolerance is a Macedonian Virtue!" - Column by Ambassador Simone Filippini for Vecer Daily
On 18 December 2008, at a Dutch-French and EU backed initiative, a first ever declaration on sexual orientation and gender identity was proposed to the UN General Assembly. While the proposed text was not adopted due to an opposing statement by some countries, it was backed by 67 countries, including Macedonia. Successful Conference on Matra project on Media Literacy 
On the 11th of May, the Macedonian Institute for Media, the Institute for Democracy Societas Civilis from Skopje and the European Centre for Journalists from the Netherlands organized a conference on “Media Literacy – Stimulating Participation of Young People in Democratic Processes”. At the conference, which was attended by teachers, administrators and representatives from the media, the organizers presented their Handbook for Teachers for Learning Media Literacy in Lectures in their Native Language, which will be used in the framework of the Media Literacy Project, which is funded through the Matra Programme <insert link> of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The first Transavia charter flight arrived today from Amsterdam to Skopje, bringing 130 Dutch tourists who will spend their spring holidays in Macedonia. Opening of Skopje Dance Fest with the Rotterdam Dance Academy

The 2010 Dance Fest Skopje was open on 14 April, with a performance of the Rotterdam Dance Academy (www.codarts.nl) entitled "The Third". The choreography for the performance was made by Mrs. Risima Risimkin, one of the best known Macedonian choreographers and frontrunners in the area of contemporary dance in the country.The Netherlands Ambassador Simone Filippini was granted a special award for her contribution to the development of the contemporary dance in Macedonia. Cardboard Design Workshop with David Graas

New Charter Flights between the Netheralnds and Macedonia

As of 29 April 2010, Transavia, daughter company of the Dutch national carrier KLM and the biggest and most trusted charter company from the Netherlands, will execute at least 27 charter flights from the Netherlands to Macedonia and vice versa. As a result of the arrangement between Transavia, Karatanova Tours, a Dutch-Macedonian Tour Operator, and Schiphol Airport, this company will fly from Amsterdam to Skopje and Ohrid at least once a week in the period April – October 2010. The Rijksakademie is an international research and production place for emerging, professional artists from all continents. The Rijksakademie is more than a residency. Dutch Embassy Congratulates Macedonia on the Visa Liberalization Decision
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Skopje welcomes the decision taken by the member states of the EU that Macedonia's citizens will be able to travel without visa to the Schengen area as of 19 December 2009, and congratulates the authorities as well as the citizens of Macedonia on this important achievement. The new visa free regime will apply to all holders of biometric passports, who will be able to travel to the Schengen area for up to 90 days per six-month period.
