Dutch Experts Deliver a Workshop on Customs Valuation
In the period from 19 to 25 May, two experts from the Dutch Tax and Customs Organisation carried out a workshop on customs valuation in Skopje for 23 Macedonian customs officers. During the workshop several important topics were discussed, including falsified documents, deductive method for determination of the customs value, customs clearing of used cars and stock exchange goods and fruit and vegetables, transportation costs (land, sea and air), request for mutual assistance between Customs Administrations, customs valuation of poultry meat from Brazil and Argentina.
During the workshop the peers exchanged their experience and knowledge on various issues related to these topics. Special emphasis was put on the customs clearance and customs valuation of Turkish and Chinese goods at the customs house of Skopje, where the Macedonia customs officers often encounter reasonable doubts about the declared value. This workshop is part of an intensive co-operation between customs officers from the Netherlands and Macedonia on matters arising in the field of customs valuation. The workshop took place in the framework of the bilateral twinning project between the Dutch and Macedonian Customs Administration that is funded by the Netherlands Embassy.
