On March 17, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. Simone Filippini visited the headquarters of the Democratic Union of Albanians and met its President Mr. Bardhyl Mahmuti. This was the first meeting between the two interlocutors and Ambassador Filippini presented Mr. Mahmuti with a gift. DUA President expressed his appreciation for the visit and briefly explained the role of DUA followed by a general overview of the situation in the country. He emphasized the necessity of achieving equality between the communities. Mr. Mahmuti expressed his concerns about what he considered to be an antiAlbanian logic of the Macedonian Governments in general and called for full implementation of the Ohrid Peace Agreement and solving the issues of the Albanian language and the invalids and veterans of the conflict in 2001. Ambassador Filippini called upon all parties to play a constructive role in these very important days for the country prior to the NATO summit in Bucharest. She emphasized the necessity of presenting positive agendas before the people of this country instead of negative agendas of the political parties in Macedonia. The Ambassador also informed Mr Mahmuti about the work of the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy and expressed readiness to assist the party development through the Institute.
