Netherlands Ambassador visits Ohrid

 

Visit to the Municipality of Ohrid

The Mayor of Ohrid, Mr Aleksander Peterski, welcomed the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Macedonia, H.E. Simone Filippini for a meeting at the Municipality of Ohrid (www.ohrid.gov.mk) . The Mayor acquainted the Ambassador with the activities of the Municipality over the past year and their planned activities for the upcoming tourist season especially with regard to the Ohrid Summer Festival. Ideas were also exchanged on the possibility of twinning for the city of Ohrid with a city from the Netherlands as well as the possibility of reviving the Dutch tulip park that was a popular landmark tourist attraction.

The Mayor invited the Ambassador to participate in the press conference for the announcement of the winner to this years World Humanism Award as awarded by the Ohrid Academy of Humanism. This years winner, Manuael de Olivera, is a famous film maker and the oldest active film director. The Ambassador also accompanied Mr de Olivera and the Mayor in a tour of the city of Ohrid.


Visit to "Izvor" Fish Farm

Coppens Makedonija is the representative office of the fish feed producer Coppens International BV located in the Netherlands (www.coppens.eu). Recently Coppens Makedonija acquired the ownership of the "Izvor" fish farm in the area of Kicevo. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Macedonia, H.E. Simone Filippini, received a tour of the farm by the owner Mr Toni Dimitrovski in which the upcoming activities for modernizing and restoring the facilities were discussed. FairOhrid

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Macedonia, H.E. Simone Filippini participated in the opening of the tourism fair in Ohrid as organized by the Hotel Association of Macedonia (HOTAM) Externe link http://www.hotam.org.mk. The Ambassador was acquainted to the tourism sector of Macedonia and the importance and significance this industry receives from the public and private institutions. During the tour of the fair at the "Biljanini Izvori" hall, the Ambassador visited the stand of the city of Ohrid (Externe link www.ohrid.gov.mk) and had a chance to talk to the owners of the private pension "Lale" (Externe link http://www.lale-pestani.com) that is popular with Dutch tourists.



"Gica" Factory visit

"Gica" is a company that engages in the production of fresh consumer eggs, animal feed, pasta and broiler meat (Externe link www.gica.com.mk). The owner of ‘Gica", Mr Ljupco Ivanovski, welcomed the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Macedonia, H.E. Simone Filippini for a tour of the factory premises and presented the company’s activities over the past years. Some of the issues discusses included the effects of the bird flu scare on "Gica"s activities as well as the expected impact of the global trend of the rise in food prices. Mr Ivanovski presented the Ambassador with the plans of the company to engage in real estate development in addition to the daily on going egg production activities.
