On Monday 7 September Stichting Nieuwe Helden from The Netherlands performed at the 14th Edition of the Biennial of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean which was this time held in Skopje, Macedonia. By music and visual art performances the five young actors searched for the identity of the artist and the city.

NHelden’s  theatrical, musical and energetic performance Roll With It ended with turning off the lights on the main city square of Skopje, so that burning torches held by over 300 people could show a burning question mark that represents the big questions we all have but never find an answer to. We will create a huge burning question mark in the public space with all audience. The question mark stands for not knowing, not having the answers, the burning stands from the energy this not knowing can give – they say in their official announcement on their website.

The theme for the 14th Biennial was the ancient legend of the city “Seven Gates”. The gate is associated with free entrance and ongoing circulation. In this case a place where cultural creativity comes together and mixes with cultural heritage. Skopje this year formed the gate that enabled creative expression and transnational exchange for seven artistic disciplines.
