On Friday 28 August 2009 the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Simone Filippini attended the Kratovo Cultural Wave organised by the Municipality of Kratovo. The guests at this unique gathering had the opportunity to enjoy the performances of many young and established talents from Kratovo, Veles and Mavrovo and Rostuse. In her address, Ambassador Filippini expressed her admiration of the Kratovo cultural monuments and natural beauties and emphasised the importance of the investments in the culture as one of the key preconditions for local economic development.
After the musical happening, the Ambassador joined in the start of the bicycle race for the Macedonian National Cup organised in co-operation with the Macedonian Bicycle Federation. Later on, the Mayor of Kratovo Mite Andonovski hosted a visit to the Clock Tower which was reconstructed with a Dutch grant through the World Bank Project for development of municipalities and culture. The permanent exhibition in the Clock Tower offers significant historical information and archaeological findings dating from the Roman periods to the present times.
