Looking Closer into the Implication of the New PIFC law
From 11 to 15 January 2010 experts from the Macedonian and the Dutch Ministry of Finance held discussions with the participants of the Macedonian ministries and institutions about the implications and the implementation of the new Public Internal Financial Control (PIFC) law.
The visit of the Dutch experts took place within the framework of the Dutch funded bilateral project which entails assistance to the Macedonian Ministry of Finance and other government institutions with the implementation of PIFC concept. An important element in this process is a decentralisation of financial responsibility and accountability to and within these institutions. Managers at all levels should be accountable for the activities they carry out in operational policies, but also in financial management and control policies. One of the first steps that will be taken in this framework is establishing financial affairs units in all central government institutions. In the coming period there will be several aditional expert missions from the Netherlands to assist with the implementation process.
