Mavrovo Tour 2009 Register Now!



The Externe link National Park and the Externe link Municipality of Mavrovo, the Macedonian Bicycle Federation, Externe link Hotel Alpina Mavrovo, Externe link Hotel Radika, Hotel Bistra and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands invite you to join the first official Mavrovo Tour! Let’s walk, cycle and enjoy the natural beauties of Mavrovo Lake together on Sunday, 14 June 2009 starting at 12:00 hrs

The goal of the tour is to promote the natural beauties of the Mavrovo Lake and its surroundings and to give bicycle and walking enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy them. It will include different biking and walking distances, varying from 2 km to a full (bike) tour around the lake. Special activities for children will be organised and music performances will take place on different locations during the day. Participation is free of charge.

We hope that this event, which aims at increasing the visibility of the Mavrovo National Park and placing  it on the map of the Macedonian and the international tourists, will become a yearly event. We would therefore like to invite you to support it by joining us for this wonderful opportunity to explore the hidden beauties of the Mavrovo region.

Bring your bike or your walking boots. Transport to Mavrovo from Skopje and back will be provided upon registration.

The Netherlands Embassy has been supporting the cultural programme of the Municipality of Mavrovo and Rostusa in the period of 2007-2009. It haspledged EUR 34,000 to support the regular cultural activities of this municipality, which included the organization of the now traditional Reka Summer. The presentation of some of the natural beauties of this region, such as Duf waterfalls and the hikes to Lokov lakes has also been supported by the Embassy.Prior to that, the Embassy also supported the creation of a web page on Reka region (Externe link www.reka.org.mk), the creation of the small but very interesting historical and ethnological museum in Galicnik, as well as the organization of the traditional Galicnik wedding.
