On 8 April 2009 the Rotterdam Dance Academy will perform at the opening of the Dance Fest Skopje 2009 in the Macedonian Opera and Ballet with its show “Talents On The Move”. They dance (excerpts from) work of Jiří Kylián, Georg Reischl, Itzik Galili, Mauro Bigonzetti, Ton Simons and Ed Wubbe. The Rotterdam Dance Academy (RDA), which was founded in 1931 by Corrie Hartong and Gertrud Leistikow, is one of Europe’s leading professional institutes for contemporary dance.

Each year, the RDA selects a few dozen talented dancers from hundreds of applicants from all over the world. These students will train in Rotterdam to become professional dancers, choreographers or teachers. By emphasising excellence, the RDA aspires to educate highly qualified dance artists who can quickly find work in the international labour market. This year is the 5th edition of the international dance festival Dance Fest Skopje and on this occasion the organisers of the festival will award the special award “Menada” for the first time. From 7th to 16th April the festival will host dance theatres and groups from the Netherlands, Sweden, Kosovo, Turkey and Macedonia. Download the programme of the festival here.
