From 31 August to 2 September 2009, two Dutch customs experts visited Macedonia to provide further training to their Macedonian colleagues in the customs services for the supervision of the authorisation holders and introduce the quality control concept. The goal of the training was to launch a Programme for quality control of the Supervisory Units and the audit reports. The Dutch experts designed a framework for the development of the quality control concept and a draft programme for quality control of the audit process, including questionnaires and standard form for reviews on the quality of audits. As a follow up, an evaluation of the quality programme will be carried out in December 2009.

The co-operation between the Dutch and Macedonian Customs in this area is part of a twinning project supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for the period 2005-2009. The project includes  a range of activities aimed at improving and modernisation of customs procedures related to the controls of goods, inward processing, intellectual property rights and enforcement.
