Twenty-six Macedonian parliamentarians participated in a conference entitled "The Parliament and Macedonia’s EU Accession", which took place at the Wilton Park Conference Centre in the United Kingdom from 24-27 January 2008. The overall aim of the conference was to help the country achieve its agreed objectives related to NATO Membership and EU accession, and ensure it has the capacity to perform its functions effectively when Macedonia has achieved EU membership. The event resulted in a concrete action plan to strengthen the Parliament and its structures. The conference, which was attended by Ambassador Filippini, was an initiative of the Dutch and British Embassies in Skopje and was financed by the European Commission, the Macedonian, Dutch and British Governments and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
